I agree with AlexxEnglishh.
This is not saying how great America is, it’s just a tribute to the falling soldiers who fought in the wars of life and our countries. So please don’t disrespect the people with the courage who fought, knowing death could be around the corner. They were brave enough to stand for our country so then we could stand on our own, and prove we were just as strong as the other countries.
So, god bless those that fought, and the families that lost loved ones.

France needs a song like this right now. RIP, those 129. #PrayForParis.

To everyone who commented in this comment section and is from a different country (I'm sure most of you know who you are), we thank you for your kind words. Many Americans themselves don't like this country and how we are often portrayed or represented these days. But you've helped reassure us to feel good about our nationality, including me. Of course, we still have many shameful flaws. However, I'm very happy you guys have found a way to look past them. And so, from the bottom of all our hearts, we thank you for your inspiring words. :-)

God I remember when life was just so much simpler than what it is nowadays. Back when this was released back in 2010 I was sitting at home on a couch as a kid watching cartoons and playing in the streets. Now im just sat at home self isolating and wondering if ill survive this pandemic. This song over the years has given me hope in the darkest of times. its a song about loving your country, and although im not american I know what its like to be free and have hopes and dreams. Great song.

I'm from The Kyrgyz Republic and I really love U.S. We watch movies and series, that were created in America, listen to music, play the games, use technology from America. I know, your country isn't perfect, but United States is the great country with great history.

I'm just a teenager, but I hope, someday I'll see America with my own eyes.

Wait guys this song is about the military!!!! IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE :D -

Is this just an illusion
That I made inside my head to get me by
^^ That part is about hallusitinations/illusions created to get soldiers through the millitary in one pecie

20 years in debt
20 years in the government
20 years can never get me by
^^ A soldier can't retire until he/she has served 20 years minimum in the army

Then I feel you close
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Beleive in you
^^ That part could possibly be about friends and companions in the military being the only way to "get by" (a theme reffered to twice already in the song) OR possibly adressed TO america as a country: I beleive in you, i feel you, which is why I am here, to serve for you, my country.

RIse to the top of the world
America, america dont you cry
Lift me up, give me strength to press on
^^ Saying again that this country will "rise to the top of the world" and "give one strength to press on" which is why one would join the military in the first place; because of that faith they have in their country and it is giving them the strength they need to continue strong.

From the farmers in the feilds, to the tallest of the towers that fall and rise
^^describing america (the USA's biggest industry is agriculture and the towers are 9/11 possibly)

1-7-7-6 the names upon the list
And of all the ones who gave until they died
^^ 1776 the year of the constitution, the names upon the consitution! And the ones who gave until they died as in soldiers.

I could go on, but I think that would make this far to long! At this point you get that it's about the military, it makes infinite sense!!! :D

Lyrics (Yes, I copied/pasted, only because no one else wrote lyrics

Is this just an illusion
That I made inside my head to get me by?
Twenty years in debt
Twenty years in the government
Twenty years can never get me by

Then I feel you close
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Believe in you

Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on

From farmers in the fields
To the tallest of the towers that fall and rise
1-7-7-6
The names upon the list
For all the ones that gave until they died
Don't you hold back
I can see in your mind, and your mind will set you free

And I feel you close
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Feel you close like you wanted me to
Believe in you

Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on

Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on
Rise to the top of the world, America
America, don't you cry
Lift me up
Give me strength to press on

Damn, makes me proud to be an American.
But I'm not an American.
How did this happen?

sh*********:
"If you take advantage of everything America has to offer there's nothing you can't accomplish"
My Italian grandfather took that literally and has achieved his American dream. Came to America working 3 jobs at once with nothing in his pocket now he has 5 apartment buildings in the states and in Italy.
He once told his friend in Italy that in America it's always dark.
Bewildered his friend said what do you mean?
My grandfather said well u leave in the morning for work it's dark by the time u come home at night it's dark as well.
My grandfather is a strong donator to the wounded Warrior Project. Nothing in this country is possible without veterans and future veterans of this country. Thank you!

Ja**********:
Is it not amazing that such the simple word America can induce such feelings of hatred and disgust? Why can people not just accept that America is a country founded for a good reason, that despite its few mistakes in the past, has worked for good and strived to live up to the vision of its founders? Has the education system robbed people of their reason? Have they caused people to derive their own world view from passion, which was spoon fed to them by their college professors and high school teachers? We have to look back no further than the Greeks to find the root of western civilization, from which we came from. They valued reason over passion, and the triumph of civilization over barbarism. Even with their polytheistic view, which we have grown out of, they could understand that passion does not build empires, and passion does not teach society to better itself. Reason triumphs. And we have lost sight of that.

Pa**********:
With all the protests going on now, as a European (Austria) I just wanted to tell you guys from the US that you should not stop being proud of your country. The things that the American Idea stands for (Individual freedom, democracy, equal opportunity) are the corner stones of our Western world. And you literally saved the free world (together with the UK) during WWII. So don´t let anyone tell you that you should hate your country. Yes there are dark parts of your history and you made mistakes, like any other country. It doesn´t matter wether you are blue or red, what matters is wether or not not you share those basic ideas that your country was founded on.
