If you keep pressing '0' on your keyboard, it feels like you're using a gun lol (make sure the video is playing while you do tho)

Ja********:
The 80 dislikes are trying to prove they like it.

Th*********:
This is why our logo is the Black Swan. Thanks a lot for spreading the meaning of the "Black Swan". This way of thinkink is the only way for mankind to grow up.

Un*******:

Fantastic video. Shared!

Ch***********:
me: "can I go out and play?"
mom: "no, that doesn't follow my rule."
Veritasium: "TRY AS HARD AS YOU CAN TO DISPROVE IT!"

Ni********:

This was painful to watch!

Un*******************:

I absolutely love this video, it has such an amazing message, not only for topics related to science, but it is useful for opinions too. If your opinion is pro A the best thing you can do is listen to every argument of pro B people to be comepletely sure that you´re pro A. Amazing how this simple riddle teaches you something so important. Thank you Derek

-1,-2,-1,925,072 dollars in my bank account

An***********:

The sentence below is false.

The sentence above is true

Ni********:

“Multiplying by 2 is not my rule”

Everyone proceeds to continue proposing numbers doubling.

c1**********:
1, 69, 420

Au***********:
42,42,42
Does this follow the rule?

SM*********:

"If you think something is true, you should try as hard as you can to disprove it. Only then can you really get at the truth and not fool yourself." That's a hell of a good quote, dude.

Mr***:

The numbers go up

I got it on in the 1st try

G*:

The world : swans are white
Australia: well yes , but actually no

Se*************:

I thought it had to do with length of the word
Two=3 letters
Four=4 letters
Eight=5 letters

Wh***********:

See if you can guess the rule before they do! #math   #numbers

Pe***:
Knew exactly what you were doing as soon as you started, because someone tried this experiment with me a while ago (it was a link on Facebook that took you to a site that gave you a number sequence and asked you to think of the rule they follow and "test" it as many times as you'd like, but you would only have one shot at guessing the rule, so you must be thorough in testing). It was an experiment to demonstrate confirmation bias, which I have not heard of before and at the time blew my mind and changed my line of thinking. Great experiment.

Ke*****:
...you should try as hard as you can to disprove it

flat earther#69 wants to know your location

Dam "not to confirm what we believe" that's deep. Thanks man

Sa**********:
Pace of the video
First half : "interesting"
Next quarter : "embarrassed to hear the rule"
Final quarter : "excited to hear its meaning l"

GU********:
I got it as soon as someone proposed one that wasn’t doubling lol

Ju****************************:
At like somewhere before 2 minutes I started thinking

a, b, c, a < b < c

ep*****:

When you're a scientist and you make a discovery, how confident should you be before calling it a discovery ? I mean, everything is merely a theory after all...

Ch*****************:

69, 420, 666 follows the rule

Ri********:
I was impressed that they could continue the sequence and even give variations of it. Not the usual man-on-the-street interview. You didn't make them look dumb in that regard. However, the fact that they kept using the same rule... not very scientific.

An**********:

I love this.

Using this method has allowed me to break out of close minded religious thinking. (In my circle of religious friends, family, and nut-jobs), they would constantly ask the questions confirming their belief, but never sought out those answers that contradicted it. ...

PS my religious experience was filled with confusion, heartache, and betrayal. But not all people are like that. Some find comfort in religion and community. Live your life. Do what makes you happy and doesn't harm others :P

Al**********:
to all those out there talking about how quickly you "got it", here's why you aren't exactly right.10 seconds in to the video he is still explaining. 20 seconds in he is done explaining. roughly 36 seconds in, the first person provides a second set of numbers. at 50 seconds it is announced that doubling isn't the rule. you cant have enough  information to eliminate any answers until 50 seconds, so since you couldn't be there to guess, you cant get it right until the answer is revealed. getting something correct requires conformation. for all you know it could be negatives, decimals, fraction, etc. so you cant know if your right until the end, we all figured it out at the same time.
you can ,however, say you got it first "try"

[Veritasium] We gathered comments about popular videos and looked at them in summary, including play time, and order of popularity.

It's a good video or channel, but if you're sad because it's too long, please leave a YouTube channel or video link and I'll post it on this blog.
