Playtime Comments : [Insider] Explosives Expert Rates Unrealistic Movie Explosions | How Real Is It?

KY*:

6:15 :but he is wolverine, he can do it

Mb*********:
7:07 I mean.. Logan's weight (added by the Adamantium covering his bones) probably would only cause him to be pushed slightly by the wave. But idk.. that's just my opinion.

J*:

13:21 “an MRI might not be a bad idea” - actually it would be a terrible idea. You’d need a X-ray first to rule out metal shrapnel but even then, it’s a risk. Metal (with ferrous properties) and MRIs never go well together.

Sp**********:

7:35 - can you say "product placement"?

Ja********:

9:03
It’s slow motion, so surely it’s gonna sound lower and longer, so I think that gets a pass surely.

Di*******:
8:07 whoa there buddy, I'm pretty sure ya haven't seen Kars yet.

Bi****:

2:42 Forgot to mention the blast ignites and comes from a different location to what we get shown. I see an extra 3-4 seperate explosions begin to orginate and connect to the fireball.

JB*******:
6:22 If this dude knew what he was talking about, he'd have pointed out that sparks are tiny pieces of metal turned red hot by the physical process of breaking them loose from the larger piece of metal -- which is impossible with an ultra-hard material like adamantium.

Br**********:
0:34 granades were Round and watch when he throws them down..they change shapes. He pulled them so hard that it elongated. It should get like 9 stars

Mi*******:
10:44 He had stolen so much of the mob's money, he could afford to burn a big pile of it, so IDK.

Samuel Jackson: Son of a-

Do***********:

My boy. He's thee Joker, the man can do anything easily. He plans ahead!

Ch******:

So the most realistic ones were comedies. Interesting

Ab***********:
Next video: Serial killer rates unrealistic horror movies. (and gets mad)

Er*******:
That is the most rating a transformer movie has ever gotten 4.5.

K*:
One thing he didn't mention is that all these explosions seem to be gasoline/petrol based. Gas explosions tend to look bigger and scarier because of that immense fireball they create, but they really aren't that dangerous to structures. Explosions created by dynamite like in Django Unchained or demolition charges like in The Dark Knight don't create that fireball, and military carpet bombs like in Transformers DEFINITELY don't. Movies just use those sort of gasoline explosions because they look cooler and they're cheaper.

Da***************:

On the Indiana Jones fridge scene:

"I award no points and may got have mercy on your soul"

Ma**:
For Transformers, the people aboard the aircraft are the real crew usually manning it, and he just told them what the end result had to be and let them do the talking as they would in real life.
That's why the radio traffic is VERY accurate.

Fr*********:
How realistic was Jeff Daniel's explosive diarrhea in Dumb and Dumber?

wh****:

Point: If you want to do comedy, show reality

Ma******:
Was difficult to add a representation clip showing how a) a grenade explosion? Instead of just showing a guy sat talking about "oh this doesn't happen, that also doesn't happen"

Ro*************:
Cool guys don't look at explosions, they blow things up and then walk away

Ma******:

Bro... he can talk explosions to me all day if he wants... he's cute

So******:
So real explosions are:
- Short
- Loud crack
- Fireball that's about 30% larger than explosive but lasts like half a second.
- Shock wave doesn't throw you, instead basically knocks you down.
- Shock wave will likely rupture your lungs.
- Ears and Lungs are affected most
- If you blow up a house fireballs will be about 1-2 seconds long. There will be small fires around.
- Most dangerous thing is fragmentation that will practically blend you.

Notes:
- Shooting a gas tank will not make it explode
- Pulling a pin with your teeth will basically be very awkward and embarrassing because it's very tough. May break your teeth.

Co******:
I want to see a 10/10 realistic one.

ex*************:
Well, the joker has resources, and a LOT of goons, so like...

de******:

Good to know. . knowledgeable and handsome as well:)

De********:
To be fair, Michael Bay used actual explosions when filming, so you can’t really judge the physics of his explosions too much.

To*******:
Well plus in Django if he'd stood that close to a house blowing up like that, he'd have been torn to shreds by all the flying debris.

Ja***:

Perfect man to answer whether 9/11 was an "inside job" or not.
Edit: shit, I'm sorry y'all.

Ju*****:
0/10 not enough back burns

Ve*******:

That Indiana Jones scene sounds terrifying if I was him

Sa***********:
Could you review the movie speed. I just watched it and I want to know how much of the explosing could be real. There are a lot

An***********:

Bit negative but a total babe. I'd love to see some explosion scenes that he'd actually rate highly!!

Ta*******:
Hmm, I was hoping he could see the exploding car scene from MI 3, with Tom Cruise running from it. But the explosive engineer has pretty much explains how air pressure and shockwaves work. Anyways, TDK Joker blowing the hospital was pretty real, not to say we already knew that, but to see those glass panels rupturing before the 'fireworks' really gives a realistic feel of how demolition of structures would look like. The truth is, there is no explosion powerful enough to 'blow up' a building, unless you're using a weapon of mass destruction. And it's not a coincidence that those charges goes off one by one in that hospital scene : Structures have certain levels of rigidity in some areas, and explosions goes off in all directions. An explosive strapped on to the right wall of a room would result massive damage to that wall, while the wall on the left side of the same room would not be damaged on the same scale, unless the explosive is powerful enough to do so. That's why in filming TDK they had to plan that building teardown very carefully, or else it wouldn't go down as what was shown on screen.

Em*******:

I'm hoping you could do a review of explosions in tunnels, in movies, sometime. I've seen a lot of movies get this way wrong many times.
I was with some people (I've long since forgotten and lost track of) who liked to urban explore in the tunnels along the Mississippi river back in the 1980s.
One of the people had placed an explosive in a brick wall, hoping to widen the way around it.
Every one waited around a corner about 100 yards down the tunnel.
When the blast went off everyone instantly and involuntarily sat on the ground. Just all at once everyone's legs just went limp.
The shock wave traveling along the tunnel was enough to cause the involuntary sit on the ground response, that I've never seen any movie ever get right.
