these comments are very interesting...this video/song is not about hating cops or "attacking white people" its a song about being unapologeticly black and being proud of it and the cop scene is not about attacking the police its about letting them know that were tired being shot for no reason... he puts his hands up as a metaphor as in "my hands are up why do you still shoot?" I feel like this song is my anthem as in "im black and proud"
To*******:
The fact that she got boycotted by the police and was turned against by New York's mayor when this came out. Ridiculous. A great song, with a great message. Just ahead of its time.

An insane amount of detail went into this video
As a southern history freak
Beyonce just referenced the creoles of color in New Orleans
When she and her daughter and dancers were dressed up in antebellum attire
She referenced the black Panthers activist group and the 60s with the afro and Martin Luther king's newspaper
She gave the parade revelers of Mardi gra a scene
And that shows the huge African influence on the city of New Orleans
This is a huge love letter to African American culture as well as her Louisiana heritage
Slay girl
J*:
Bet how many black artist gon start caring about their roots now. "I don't care about numbers" "I've done it all already" etc when Beyoncé already said that in 2007

I listen to music like this usually daily as inspiration. I find in songs like this the same message that I give and receive. Often, no one really understands the message, so I go back to listening to songs that do. I am a freelance content creator. A Black Man, who feels inspired to voice my passion and creativity. Music, like yours, helps vindicate my message. Check out my Poetry.
