This to me encapsulates everything ARTPOP was meant to be.

Gaga is flying high and soaring when she is shot down by an arrow that almost impales her heart. She hits the ground and as she impacts the ground an explosion of money is sent up into the air as she hits the ground. This is why she was shot down, by the same music corporations and industry that helped her soar.

She makes her way a long distance, when she comes across a mansion (perhaps mount Olympus, perhaps the Haus of Gaga, perhaps just a metaphor for her creative spirit). As she begins to die she is buried in water on Mt. Olympus. Water burial or being sent through the waters is often a symbol of transition from physical to spiritual life.

If we’re following Ancient Greek symbolism, after the burial a great feast takes place, The perideipnon. This may be what she’s channeling with the grape outfits surrounded by the Real Housewives. This is also Gaga’s first inclusion of pop culture into the art world.

The feast is music is cut short as Gaga is reborn, and begins on a new path. Her outfit is a Vegas showgirl outfit, which may be a message about Gaga’s commitment to continuing forward as a performer of sorts. It may be another application of including pop into the art world.

Obviously, there is a cheeky joke with Andy Cohen being Zeus, watching over Gaga on her new journey. It is also another inclusion of pop into art which is the main drive behind ARTPOP.

As she begins on her mission, she incorporates several “popart” works into her storytelling. Notice how she is holding an 8-bit/Lego apples @5:08 there is also Lego fruit in the pot that she is being fed. We also see a big part of popular culture, Minecraft inserted into the artful storytelling. It may also suggest that Gaga, is rebuilding her vision of what digital music/visuals should be. Regardless, it’s another pop culture reference, further driving home ARTPOP’s intention.

We see Ghandi, Micheal Jackson, and Jesus being brought out of their caskets. Obviously these figures have perfect blood in Gaga’s eyes. Personally, I believe Micheal Jackson should have been someone else, but I do know Gaga looked up to him at a younger age. Either way, he could be there simply as another pop culture nod.

Either way their blood is combined to create the perfect “GUY”, and cloned over and over to replace the misogynistic GUY’s in the music industry.

@5:32 is simply incorporating pop culture into art again. A nod to the earlier Lego fruit, as well as pop artist Nathan Sawaya….It’s basically the Lego Man with Gaga’s face on it. Also shoutout to the giant Koons ball in the back of the cloning room

Gaga makes her way to the corporate tower. I believe her headpiece she is wearing is an obvious nod to the beginning of the video where she was a shot down bird like creature. At the same time, I believe it’s meant to mimic the Black Swan. Which is a saying for an unexpected or unforeseen event. Gaga is undercover, angry, and here to surprise the big music corporations.

She fires money in the air to distract them. Busts into the tower and works her way to the top.

She appears to try and seduce the office men and kills them (ironically the same one that was holding the bow that shot her down). Her perfectly cloned “GUYs” are then sent in to the highest tops of the tower to replace the now dead corporate, money hungry, misogynistic men, at the top.

At the end she releases the perfect clones into the world. A message that from here on out she will be on a mission to release nothing but kindness into the world through music, art, etc.

The credits role as MANiCURE plays. This particular time the song comes off as ironic as she has certainly “cured” the men at the top of the music industry *wink*.

Está claro que G.U.Y es uno de los mejores vídeos de LA HISTORIA.
