Travis speaks and shows how through the tumultuous night life, it doesn't give him the same exhilaration he had previously felt in the beginning of his journey. He is now melancholic towards the worldly desires he has for so long indulged and grown accustomed to. He is also expressing his feeling of being apart from the rest of mankind with imagery of him walking along with the Sheep (to represent the majority of people) and him walking Alone amongst dancing and raging youth. He then goes on to show the wrath and pain he takes heat for and how he confides in Kylie (Who is shown as a beacon of light amongst the catastrophic and hollow surroundings Travis finds himself in). He then shows himself Atop a Mountain with a sea of identical humans looking up to him (A probable reference to Moses and his Followers) as he Raises his Hands, only for the "sheep" looking up to him to imitate his movements in exact unison. This shows the level of influence Travis feels and probably truly has over the Youth of today. As he quite literally Commands a crowd of Thousands as they Follow his every instruction during his Live Shows. The same interpretation can be said for the following image of him baptizing the "sheep" as they stand in a line and after being dipped, they start jumping around and dancing. This is an obvious reference to how kids look to Travis for the rage and release he can provide with his music and performances.
The Whole Song is from the Perspective of God to Travis. He is fully aware of the power he holds amongst his followers and can play God every concert as he pleases. In the video, it shows the destructive version of Travis as he hovers over the city on a flying, demon-like creature as he maniacally sets the world on Fire. God (Who is also portrayed by Travis) inflicts His wrath on him for attempting to portray God-like essence on this Earth and we see Travis decimate in pain and agony. then the music and the visuals segway into an enlightening and euphoric like state as Stevie Wonder and harmonica loops play over the image of a dimly lit Cross in the forefront.
The most important part of the video is when we see Kylie sitting as the same beacon of light consoling a lamb in her arms just as she was Travis earlier in the video. The lamb is meant to Represent Travis himself as he, like everyone else in Gods eyes, is just another one of his Creations. Travis subtly but ultimately comes to terms with this Truth as the closing moments of the video show him saying to the rest of us "Stop Trying to be God, thats not who you are"...
