God I miss this side of Maroon 5. I don't know why they've descended into the pop-ify version of themselves. This was them with style, with some passion, when he sang more of his lyrics below pitches dogs can hear. It built well, every chorus adding another harmonic layer, the song getting more and more aggressive and powerful but always staying smack in the groove.

I miss you guys SO much.

Pressure creates diamonds. Their own fame basically crushed their artistic ability. This song, for example, happened because they were having issues with their recording company. That's where the emotion comes from. Art without strong emotion just isn't as good.
Adam having trouble with a record company nowadays? Ha. They'd bend over backwards to fulfill even the most pettiest request no matter how unreasonable he was. Most people in his life are probably like that. There is no pressure in his life. A life free of ups and downs, no negative emotion is a life without any real beauty and art.
Now, are their recent songs catchy and filled with impossibly high production and musical ability? Sure. But they could be sung by any pretty voice. Adam is just a stand in used solely for his popularity rather than talent and skill. Watching a recent performance of this song compared to older versions... man...
