The scene with the stoplights flickering is him finally finding it. He has flashbacks of the past moments here. The second part is his realizing that he is growing in fame. He is now referring himself in First person point of view, whereas in the first part, he is referring himself in third person. The tree growing represents his growth in success. This is because he is now focusing more on himself, rather than the old Travis. He is now a totally different person because of the fame. Now that he realizes he is rich and famous, he can show off his red ferrari in the streets as well as his very expensive leather jacket he is wearing towards the end.
