Mu******:
He had the absolute levelheadedness and courage to call social services and they sent him back to his abusers rather than listen to what he had to say? Shame on them!

Za******:
who dislikes this. he literally is talking about how he was abused and people are just like haha fake. i mean i dont know if anybody said that but still i mean like sheeeet son thats insane that he went through that. made respect to this man

ek**************:
If you disliked this video it's simply because you can't empathize

Th**************:
“Video games don’t make people violent, people make video games violent”- I just made this up

Wi***********:
You could tell that was hard for Aaron to say but he did it and turned his life around. That was some motivational s**t. Keep it up buddy

Ew****:

Let's take a moment to consider that his friend:
- saved Aaron's life
- saved the lives of possibly a dozen or more innocent people
- saved possibly a hundred friends and family members from a terrible thing
- (in)directly lead Aaron to live a happy life with the woman he loves and his kids

br**:

Video starts:
Audience applauds:
Aaron: “I was almost a school shooter.”
Audience dead silent.

Ty*********:

Maybe this is the perspective that we should be showing in schools, teaching kids about compassion

Ph***********:
When the guy with the crutches gets up for a standing ovation, it hit me different

HM*******:

When he said the thing his mother told him in the car, I started balling my eyes oh my that is so horrible

So******:
This is how serial killers become one sometimes. But after he does the crime, we're like "he's not even human".

Be******:
"When someone treats you like a person when you dont even feel human, it can change your entire world"

Ne***:
Man, some people should never be parents.

Hello everybody! I'm the guy from the video. I just wanted to say thank you. I read the comments (because I'm just a regular guy and who can check out their own ted talk? Lol) and I want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
And just imagine, who might listen if YOU speak?
You are not alone.

bo*************:

That friend not only saved one life, but potentially hundreds of lives too

mi*****:

A simple, "How are you doing" could brighten someone's day.

ja************:
I'm moved by his story.... so powerful. That friend is a diamond in the rough - not a lot of people will be that person for someone.

Lo*************:
This is a Ted talk with a difference, no slick salesman bollocks, just straight, gritty info right from the heart

He****:
Don't just protect the children from school shooters. Protect them from being school shooters.

"The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth"-

That woman is a pathetic excuse for a mother. How dare she say that to him.

Rh******:
“Next time you should do a better job and I’ll buy you the razor blades”
That’s not a Mother

Tu********:
What I need to know is why this popped up when I searched “The man behind the slaughter”

An*************:
I just keep coming back to this tedx talk for some reason, of the hundreds of talks ive heard over the years, this one just stands out for one odd reason

Ke***********:

I cried when he said, his mom said to him: "Next time you should do a better job and I'll buy you those razor blades."

"We have to give love to those who we think deserve it the least!"
Beautifully said.

Fo************:

I know for a fact he is not the only one . When i was in High School i was bullied everyday, all day . For 4 years . The teachers did nothing . No body did nothing . Were are human beings with feelings and emotions, were not robots without a soul . When i used to hear about a school shooting , i would ask , what drove the kid to do that. ?? Nobody talks about that , only the victims . Everything happens for a reason ......

Il*****************:

This guy has some HUGE balls to talk about this on a show. Ma man!

ya********:
sadly the people deserving it least get most love

“When someone treats you like a person when you don’t even feel like a human, it will change your world”. That hit me.

Somehow ended up here.. But I've been depressed, depressed for the last 7 years and still am. I graduated this year. I keep going even when it's feels to get worse. I have suicidal thoughts but I know better, I am stronger than that. I don't have friends, really never have. I feel like I have no future but I keep going. I've lost multiple people in my life to suicide, one being my uncle a few years ago and the other being a teacher, great teacher, the best teacher, I lost him this year. To anyone who reads this, I thank you. If you're struggling, keep going, you've got this.

Cl********:
I’ve been through rough times, nothing like yours I admit it. In Canada we can’t get guns so I didn’t think about shooting anyone but I thought about killing myself. I had marks all over my left arm, they felt like a countdown to the day I’ll cut deep enough at the right spot. One of my friends decided that he wouldn’t let me go deeper into that downward spiral. He got in contact with my parents and told them what I was doing to myself. I was angry at him at first but now I’m thankful. He saved my life. Now I know I can’t impose another death on my friends’ shoulders. We lost one of our friends 7 months ago in a car incident. Anyway, your speech brought tears to my eyes. We can feel how much you’re thankful to your friend and how much you’re glad you haven’t done what you were about to do. Have a great life man, I’m sorry you had to have such an horrible person as a mother. I hope she changed or she’ll change.

Th*************:

My middle school thought I was going to be one and they kept very close eyes on me and now the high school I go to now keeps eyes on me and it has messed me up.

The reason why

I drew a comic book of ww2 zombies
And they called in my parents and they said lies and now the school I attend now have a no tolerance policy so they are strict and still lie about males messing around.

When the middle school I used to attend thought I would do it I lost most of my friends and my mental health went down and it is still going down but now I’m getting better.
The school system is broken and now people at school think I will still to this day and my friends know that I have a short temper from years of bullying keep me safe. When those friends keep us safe and love us as a friend and maybe more are good people and they love you more than you love yourself is such is an amazing felling. I’m just a freshmen but this speaks to me and if there is anyone who is dealing with depression it gets better.
God be with you all
