I was really confused by the meaning of this at first, but when I watched it again I noticed the A Year Without Rain picture in her hand, so maybe she is 'Searching' for herself. She even shows the picture to the girl at 2:00 as if saying 'Have you seen this girl?' Which I didn't notice at first either, so this film probably has a deeper meaning. We can only guess, but I think if we all watch it a few more times it will make sense to us.
I like the way it's mysterious, and I think it's beautiful

Well my opinion is this--->
She was young outside and inside and she was so happy and she was herself and she wanted to her dream come true. Dream did came true,but she lost herself (illuminati) and she is so sad cuz she want old her back. Her eyes are sad. And that part 1:04 - 1:11 she is walking and then she meet old her but under mask (look closely and You will see its her under that mask (short black hair) ). That guy in video is Justin and he made her life better but when she lost him everything is bad again. She is asking people did they saw that girl on that picture she is showing them, but they havent see her. She is lost and she is searching.... :(

Nice one. Pretty dark and full of emotion passed without a word. Very nice job to all the team who produced this short. This is what cinema should be (not necessarily mute film, but more in deep story-line / background and acting). You've done here in 3 min more than many movies can do in 3 hours. Real congrats. (note: I had some difficulties to recognize Selena at first. What a drastic change. That shows me you can do many roles other than your usual casting type. Congrats for that too.)

i took it too literally the first time, maybe this is about a girl who had a great love and she's going around trying to find herself because she's lost her innocence. So she's having flashbacks of shiloh's character and the hotel, because that's where they made love and yadayada. So now she's backtracking, trying to see if people recognize the new her as the old her.....maybe. idk if im right.

this is very beautiful and can be interpreted in many ways.
For me, it's about how when we're young, we want to grow up quickly and we don't realize and appreciate what we have. Then, when we're older, we realize that our times of having simple youth is gone and we'll wish that we could go back and appreciate it more. the happiness, the simpleness of our "huge" problems, and not understanding how cruel the world can actually be. But we know that we can never go back, only move forward.

everyone has different view of this video. what I think the story behind this video is a girl that has been through a lot and is really trying to find herself back.  so you people who think selena is on drug and all stop. the word rehab is not just for drug addicts and alcoholics. You can go on rehab for anything.

I think everyone has there own opinion on what this video's about but to me it symbolizes many things, in the beginning where she's in the room with the man but gazes out the window as if she's trapped symbolises that she is trapped, but trapped with people who love her, and who she loves back, and shows the good and the bad times. symbolization #2 the scene where she sees herself in the mask shows that sometimes you can't see who you are, or what you've become, a struggle of finding out who she needs to be or who she want to be. and #3 her walking around asking people if they've seen this girl who turns out to be herself is a symbolization of who she is and what people see, people only see what they want to see and they don't actually see her, it's about her looking into the past and finally deciding that's she's ok with being herself even if others don't like it. I hope this helps people who might be confused. this is what I see. <3 xoxo

(What it is really about) Selena is with this man and out of no where he just disappears so she goes out to find him. When she is in the hall way she passes a women with a mask which is really her if you can tell its her short hair behind the mask. She changes clothes and shows a man a picture asking him if he has seen this person he says no then she changes clothes asking a women and she says no. You see her strip down and the photo in her hand all along was her, In the picture you can see she is all done up with long hair, makeup and a beautiful dress and thats all people would see of her and now that she has short hair and not all glamorous she is so unrecognizable that no one even noticed that she was the same girl in the picture not even her lover.

I didn't know what to expect before watching the video.  After I had completed watching it, I wanted to make a comment on it on what I personally thought of it.  When I logged in to post a comment, I was tempted to read what others had thought of the film, but that would have  caused ripples on what I was set to write.  So, I ignored reading all the comments about this video without any possible contamination or distraction of what I was to write about. This film is hauntingly beautiful and artistic.  Thanks to Victoria Mahoney, Amanda de Cadenet, Shiloh Fernandez and of course...Selena Gomez.  I don't personally know the executive producer, the director, or even Shiloh Fernandez, but this film demonstrates the fundamental human elements that is not of material substance or fame, but of the simple essence of deep searching and establishing one's purpose in life during this particular era of our generation.  Thanks for sharing.
