This reminds me of when me and my siblings tried to prevent squirrels from getting into tallow balls (bird food) at my granma's house. I took iron wire and set it up between two trees and the bird feeder in the middle. The squirrels jumped from nearby bushes onto the wire and somehow climbed along it to the balls. It took them few tried to adjust their trajectory every time we moved the wire but they'd always get ro eat. Then again them being good at obstecle courses makes sense because their whole life is basically an obstecle course
