IMO - Opening scene "til death do us part" they parted thus equaling in their deaths. He awakens from his coffin, trying to rekindle the old love. Her mother is angry from a protective standpoint, she hates how much he has hurt her and wants him to just leave her alone. He awakens her with a scorpion sting, instilling old love that awakens her. She mocks him by pouring alcohol on him, the alcohol has clearly caused problems in the relationship before and she screams out of frustration that the same things he told her would change haven't. Broken promises and arguments have led to her becoming numb and emotionless, and when he tries to confront her, she's so emotionally unavailable that he doesn't recognize the person that she's become and she pushes him away (needing space and time to think about things). Her friends prevent him from contacting her and he turns back to his alcohol addiction. He finds himself in a hotel with another woman that he clearly has tied feelings of his failing relationship to and the further he goes with this other woman the more he knows he'll never be able to save the relationship with the woman he truly loves. (As told by him visioning her in the room witnessing and suffering with heartbreak.) He's then forced to think about life without her, and telling himself there are "plenty of fish in the sea". When in reality he knows that's not what he wants. He convinces her to talk, which turns into a battlefield between one another, her sitting and listening to him speak. He possibly confesses to hooking up with another woman while they were taking a break, which drops a literal bomb on her. And in turn results in her packing her things and leaving for good as his entire life is torn apart by her departure.
