24 million people just got educated on how to drop an egg correctly

Ba***********:

Physics teacher: noo you can't just explain potential energy in a minute you have to take 3 days to explain it

0M***********:

totally unrelated, but if the egg is exposed to that much stress, the shell might be intact but the yolk membrane won't .. and you wom't get a sunny side up with these eggs

Ty********:
Just surround your egg with a bunch of other eggs. If one of them survive, say that egg was your original egg.

Nobody:
NASA Engineers: Yay balloons fun!

Ph*****:
nice
my high school science class did an egg drop as one of the assignments. There were different grades for different levels of intactness. I think the rules were that it had to fit inside a certain size, you had to put the egg in in under 60 seconds, and the principal tossed them off the school roof.
I made a solid block of cardboard and put my egg in a specially hollowed out spot in the center, then tied it like a parcel. Not a crack. I suppose the wiggly bits between the sides of the cardboard absorbed the energy.
I think I still have that box somewhere...

Ra**********:
Do what I did 25 years ago....Procrastinate until the night before, then realize you have to get it done, realize there is left over pizza in the fridge, finish the pizza, wrap the smallest egg you have (smaller egg, slightly thicker shell) in paper towels, stick in the box and take it to the the roof and see if it made that drope. It did. Take it the next morning. Every kid will think you brought pizza for them. Mine was the only one that made it from the top of the stadium intact. It floated down. I got a 140 with extra credit since I used aerodynamics rather than cushioning.
