This song is pretty sad in a romantic sense. It's basically singing about when you love somebody so much when they're gone, they become a part of you. She'll dance with hands above the air to prove that she's not hurt by him, but deep down she is burdened with grief and sorrow for his leave. Just like Marry Magdalene and Jesus.

BLOODY MARY hits differently when you realize this is about saying goodbye to jesus.

Verse 1 is Mary Magdalena “love is just a history that they may prove and when you're gone I'll tell them my religion's you”. Mary loved him but knew that the love was forbidden and she needed to keep it secret or they would stone her to death. When Jesus dies she will be alone and will be stoned and be left bloody.

Verse 2 is Virgin Mary, she talks that they were more than just art for artists to paint. Referencing Peita by Michelangelo, where Mary is left bloody with Jesus body in his arms.

This song is a masterpiece of tragedy and love.

I interpret this song as from the point of view of someone who loved/was in love with Jesus perhaps Mary Magdalene (Love is just a history that they may prove) perhaps the Virgin Mary, (the Michelangelo line which could refer to the famous sculpture Pietà) but most likely both women, who is trying to celebrate and be happy that Jesus died for our sins (dance, dance, dance with your hand, hands, hands above your head, head, head like Jesus said). But no matter how hard she tries she's still so sad and angry at God and Jesus that the person she loved and depended the most on had to die had and leave her, (forgive him before he's dead) but at the same time she hates herself for being angry at God because she knows that Jesus wouldn't want her to be angry at him but be thankful for his sacrifice. But how can she? She lost the person she loves most, but she know she wants her to be happy and celebrate her salvation. It's a horrible cycle. A tale of the process of grief told by excellent use of biblical metaphors. Defiantly one of Gaga's hidden gems
