Summary Comments : [TEDx Talks] Programming your mind for success | Carrie Green | TEDxManchester

in*********:
First three parts are relatively easy for me to get, and can be answered pretty quickly and clearly:

1. What do I want to achieve?

Put simply: To create video games, and then movies and animations and comics and toys, etc. too.

2. Why do I want to achieve it?

Put simply: Because video games are the things closest to my heart in the entire world. And I love all forms of entertainment too and have this great passion for creating things that other people can enjoy similarly.

3. What kind of person do I need to become in order to make it happen?

Not quite as simple: Someone who's actually willing to put in the time and effort required to learn how to make games and then actually make games, and a person who can encourage and get other people who are similarly passionate to work on my games too, so I don't have to do it all alone.

Forth part a little harder to nail down and figure out the best way to do this:

4. Program your mind to make it happen.

Not really simple at all: Tried a whole load of stuff, and in moments in my live I have moved towards my goals pretty well, but I've always fallen back and never quite gotten to where I truly want to be. And I've never got rid of those doubts and demons that keep holding me back and making me give up more quickly than I should and so on.

I've had the first two nailed since I was a teen. I've understood the third part mostly for a long time too, and I certainly intellectually understand it, even if I'm not fully living it day to day. But that forth part is the bit that has largely eluded me for most of my life.

Guess I'll keep trying with the mediation and affirmations and audio tapes and so on though, and see how it goes. . . .

Probably no one is gonna read these but anyway.
So I was reading some comments and some people are just saying that she is only speaking about her business, that you only have to think positively or that life is short or whatever.
In a certain way it is like 80% about that, however all the other stuff I would describe it as not instructional enough, why? Because is a ted talk, you won't have a lot time to explain a lot of stuff. Here is what I've noticed since I've being doing some research on accomplishing goals:
-Knowing what you want in life, I've seen a lot in several videos that you have to write down your goals, and set a deadline, otherwise you'll just be thinking about something and not doing anything at all
- Visualization: it's a mental tool to help you get where you wanna go, like litterally feel like you are there, picture all the details, (the unconsciousness doesn't know the difference between what's real and what's not, so if you already thinking about something, your unconsciousness will work hard to make that happen
- Meditation: she said she had a lot of worries and uncertainty, one of the things that meditation does to your mind is to help you clearify all of those bad thinking and calm down your anxiety
- Positive reforce thinking: Every time a negative thought comes to your mind, you have to "fight it back" with positive thinking, again cause of the unconsciousness thing.
And that's so far what I can say imo. Thanks for reading ;)

My takeaways :)
Michael Gerber says, “Imagine walking into a room. Inside in the room are your friends and family. And as you walk down the center of the room, you see a box. And as you get to front of the room, you realize that you are in the box. And it’s your funeral.” And he says, “What kind of things do you want people to be saying about the kind of life that you lived, about the kind of person that you were, and the kind of things that you achieved.”
Success is no accident. You have to do it on purpose, and it starts by knowing what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it, the kind of person that you need to become in order to make it happen. And then programming your mind to make it happen. Because you just have one life, so you have to act accordingly.

Ja**********:
The last few minutes got me as well. I tried to change my mind habit from thinking about failure and how things could go wrong and then decide that hey I’ll think about what could go right. In saying that that makes life feel so good and now I can look back thinking hey my life felt so good. Smile to gravitate others to you, even when I tried to ask someone out at a stall today in a mall, yeah sure I was like there for half hour trying to get her number, eventually I was like alg see ya but I would just think about her being mine, anyone with anything I would think hey she’s mine, it’s about visualizing that I’ve already won makes things so much better and positive. Even just talking to strangers makes your ordinary day more extraordinary so it’s pretty awesome to take this approach and I wanna turn it into a habit, I’ll take it one day at a time but I’ll definitely keep going :D
