Me: hmm, yes, the ice cream is made out of ice cream.

Captain here: It is called "Maraş dondurması" here. "Dondurma" is basically ice cream in turkish and Maraş is The region that this type of ice cream originated or developed in. İt is Spelled like morash. They take "Salep" (which is a herb that is often ground into fine dust and made into a drink. The herb is currently rare like saffron so it is actually more expensive than saffron. Nowadays they use substitutes for it. The texture of it comes from being beaten over and over again with a long metal rod by the maker. Because the ice cream folds and twists it gets thicker like toffee candy does.
"Lezzetli" means delicious in turkish too. I recommend trying the regular one with pistachios on top, it is the traditional way to serve it. In summer you can see people cut it rather thin and put the ice cream on other desserts like baklava, halva(the kind using either flour or irmik), pudding and kadayif. Kadayif is another dessert that is similar to baklava but totally different in texture. Noodle-like thin pastry is used instead of the thin baklava layers.
