I immediately went into a mental defensive stance when "the princess bride" scene popped up. I was ready to close the video at the first slight criticism. Then he said what he said and I was happy and decided to comment here before continuing to watch.

The whole episode I was hoping for a feature on The Mask of Zorro, I'm a little disappointed that he didn't talk about the fighting Circle since he talked about that methodology with the witcher's segment. In The Witcher books it distinctly talks about the witcher's main method of fighting in circle patterns to keep distance with their opponents and in the Zorro film he trains young Zorro using these Circle methods so I'm a little disappointed that I only got a 1 out of 10 but i enjoyed the video all the same :)

The thing that gets me about these videos, especially the ones where swords or fighting of some sort is analyzed, is that the moderator keeps saying things like, "This isn't real," or "This is nonsense." Saying a technique is bad or a fighter is bad at what they do is one thing. To say this particular move isn't real is what's nonsense. Most swordfighters, and warriors in general, were simply bad at what they did. What is the quote from HBO's Rome, "The graveyards are filled with decent swordsmen. If you can't be a great swordsman, it is better to be no swordsman at all."
These techniques are very real. They are just bad.
Being bad at what you do also very often has little to do with whether you win or not. The proper position for holding a handgun does give you an advantage, but thousands of people a year are killed by street gangsters holding a sideways pistol at arm's length with no support or even aiming, and we've all seen videos of properly trained cops missing every shot from a short distance. Luck and adrenaline has a lot to do with it as does will to win. I've watched very skilled and highly trained martial artists get their asses handed to them by a thug that just comes at them hard and doesn't quit.
