Summary Comments : [Insider] We Tried The Plaza Hotel's $1,000 Royal Etiquette Class

Xi*******:

I don’t really understand these “table manners” I don’t know but table manners to me is just
1. Don’t chew with your mouth open
2. Don’t sit wildly
3. Don’t smack food at people
4. Don’t steal food
5.Finish your food
I didn’t think that table manners would be so complicated

Ad*******:

First 30 seconds... “take A Etiquette class.” English teachers everywhere shudder.

ja*****:

I got a southern grandmother and she already tought me 99.9% of this stuff. I just saved a $1000. If you want me to teach you, I only charge $50.

Sa**:

Honestly, most of these are just the normal table manners in Europe. I don’t really understand how this is worth $1000

ci**********:
First mistake: “a etiquette class” - should be “an etiquette class”

de*******:

People are spending a month's rent to learn basic table manners..
LMAO I was taught all of this by my parents.

dh************:
“A etiquette class”? Join a grammar class next time.

So***********:
When i grew up this was just called manners... i was shocked when i learned that Americans don't cut their food as they go.

Fa********:

Them : it costs a thousand dollars

Also them : showing us for free

Edit: MoM iM fAmOus!!!!

Bu***:

This is all what my family taught me actually. We're from Europe.

le*****:
I was taught 90% of this by my middle-class mom...I guess being European does mean something after all!

Na*****:

1000 bucks for a lesson and they don’t even have a dining table? just a sofa and small table?

Br*********:

She's really underestimating how much stainage I can do to a napkin.

ka********:
I ONLY COMMENTED ON THIS BECAUSE I READ IT AS “we tried PIZZA HUT’S $1000 etiquette class” jeez

li****:
I watched this in my underwear eating fast food in bed

Ju*****:

It's just available for a low low price of 1000 bucks!

le**************:

-_-
All you have to do is be taught by Nuns at a convent school. "Are you considering a career as a circus elephant, my girl? If not, be so kind as to walk down the stairs instead of galumphing down it, thank you."

I may cross the street to avoid running into one of them, but the "lessons in basic manners", as they termed it, are engrained even in my subconsciousness. Gah.

Do*********:

Girl I first read the title as “The Pizza Hotel” and I was like WHERE, WHEN, AND HOW MUCH?

Jo*************:

For those complaining about price, I'd say that these are just highlights of the wonderful course. Im sure someone might use this course if becoming newly aquainted with a certain "high society ". It could earn you respect. Which is what our speaker was mentioning at first.

Ba*******:
Would love to learn from her because she doesn’t seem stuffy or snooty like you would expect a well mannered expert would be

Ma**************:
Etiquette is not "old fashioned", it's something everyone should know and lacks in 21 century.

Be**:

As a child, I was drilled on manners and etiquette. At the time, I thought it was so silly, however as an adult, I am comfortable in social settings and strive to make others feel comfortable as well. Courtesy and respect for others are truly the cornerstones of etiquette. Manners aside, kindness is as important as knowing which fork to use.

LV******:

Even if her etiquette is not perfect, she seems like a charming person and that goes a long way.

Pk***:
Woah, all this time and I didn't realise my mother was training me as a Duchess

It*******:
Any other Europeans looking at this and thinking ”this is $1000”?

Mi**********:
"To take a etiquette class....."

No.

To take an etiquette class.

ro*****:
That scene where Emily couldn’t pick up that slice of mousse cake was hilarious.. and the fact that Myka couldn’t resist bursting into laughter made it even more hilarious

as******:

Just eat and get on with your life. This is a waste of time and money.

Va*******:
$1000 for this? just listen to “to be a princess” from barbie princess and the pauper

Jo************:

Tip: When at a formal dinner, immitate what you see other people do.

Sh************:

It’s important to remember this form of etiquette is based around European etiquette. There are many forms all over the world that are just as correct.

Mi************:

them: classy, has good table manners, can walk in heels

me: a filipino that eats with my hands, extremely clumsy, cant walk in heels

Bo************:

Eyy man i don't want to be fancy but it really help me a lot, in case when my missing rich ancestors invite me to their mansion.

-but srsly thanks for the knowledge

Bo********:
wipes cheeto dust covered fingers on the inside of the napkin
I am Clas.

li*****:
Incase you don't know ,the coach has her own youtube channel where she teaches etiquette in details

Name of her channel -Myka meier

Be**************:
I grew up in the hood but my mother felt that etiquette is an invaluable skill so she taught me most of these types of etiquette in the video along with good posture, eye contact etc. and just good manners in general. Obviously we didn't have the formal terminology but we had the skills nonetheless. I have found older people always loved me like teachers or managers/bosses and I have never failed an interview in my life. My mom is Jamaican now in Canada but I swear she is British and she grew up in Buckingham Palace. Her professionalism is next level. She is a very important manager in an international corporation even though she has the least amount of education amongst her peers but it is her experience, professionalism and etiquette that has carried her that far and gave her an edge.
