Ca************:
6:10 Redshirts...
Sounds awfully similar to another very powerful group in some other important country that appeared a few decades later...

Ja********:
12:01, "... It can happen all over again." It happened again but at our nation's capitol.

Kr**********:

0:33 Hey Indian Works in Vox too! And I thought I couldn't love this channel more!

Mo*****:

This is why America doesn't teach the real American history.

Sn*******:

4K people voted this down? Why? It’s history. We can’t hide from it.

d*:

I came back to this video after the events of Jan 6th 2021.

De***********:
Watching this after Stacy Abram's documentary on Amazon and the insurrection that occurred last week....

Br*********:
So this is where the Capitol rioters came from, historically.

Rs*******:
We just witnessed another attempt of this in 2021.... 132 years later, and we're repeating history....

Au*************:

who else watching this after the capitol insurrection?

Su*****:

This was suggested to me on 1/8/2021. I mistakenly thought this was just posted. This is America.

Ba****:
People just don't realize how horrifyingly racist we were just a little over a century ago, and how that stuff affects the way we run today. It doesn't just disappear.

Re**:
“This is something we don’t usually find in American history: the violent overthrow of a democratically elected government”

Latin American countries:

gu*************:

It looks like what happened in Tusla, as well.

Kn**************:

And think they said the best place to hide something from a black man is in a book. What if they just hide the book, only in Amerikkka

Hi**********:

“Consolidate the white vote by stoking white anger and resentment”

The playbook hasn’t changed much over the years has it?

Ni************:

This is something that should be taught in public school

El************:
I’m here after white supremacists and trump supporters stormed the US Capitol

Ly*************:
The idea that you couldn’t look this up in the library is extra disturbing

Sl**********:

So history repeated itself yesterday, "White supremacists tried to overthrow the government"

Ma************:
This is one of the wildest videos I ever watched.

la*****:
Shows why history was is important...because it repeats itself.

Az***:
Algorithm suggesting this at the right time

Dw********:

There is a book called DEMOCRACY BETRAYED written by David C.Ceceleski its about The Wilmington Riots

Ri********:

When y’all making a part 2?

Ot********:

It's intresting that racists go on about the importance of preserving history (white supremacist statues) and yet tell people to forget about the countless injustices like this because it's "not relevant anymore".

Ms******:
The more I learn the more I understand why African Americans are still so angry at a country that has never compensated or even acknowledge all the damage it inflicted and continues to inflict on African Americans. Sad how nothing changes.

Ma************:
Who's here after January 6th?

Pl*********:
I see I'm not the only one that the algorithm sent here.
Welcome to 2021 guys. We're off to a great start.

ag************:
They must’ve been rolling in their gravesssss when Obama was elected

Am**********:

sending as many people here as I can to educate them we need to know history so we can learn and stop repeating it

Bl***************:
"We will no longer be ruled and never again be ruled by men of AFRICAN origin." That statement says a lot.

Pa*****************:
and yes, it just happened again at the capital on January 7, 2021.

Jo*******:
"If you don't see it for what it really is it can happen all over again."

BD*****:

This was the playbook used from 2016-2020. Literally history was repeated.

Ri********:

Is it Ironic I'm getting this recommended right now?

An******:

As they say:" There is nothing new under the sun."

Sa***************:
Well, here we are folks...

VL******:
I wasn't born in the South, & as a kid, we moved to other places like California. When I was around 12, we cmoved to the South & as such, grew up in the South.

I never, ever heard any of these stories....but things always seemed like there was something underlying that we couldn't put our fingers on.

Over the last 20 or so years, stories like this video have come out & it challenged a lot of what I was taught in the South (but never really believed). Indeed, I was sometimes taunted because I wouldn't be a 'harasser', and the fact that I looked a little like 'I wasn't from around here', myself, but could pass for 'white'.

I have learned this about America: We hype up some 'ideal & just man'...but our historic actions are about on-par with the worst the world has seen. Perhaps, by getting the truth out into the open & interacting with people of many different backgrounds, we can get past our atrocious, hidden pasts.
