Because they're less effective and more intrusive... There is really no good excuse to use them over male condoms.

I think most women, myself included, don't use female condoms because we already have to put hormones into our bodies via birth control to prevent from getting pregnant.

Price should be mentioned for why it's harder (less convenient) to buy also. You can get Male/regular condoms for around $15 for a 24 pack (or free at your local health clinic) and female condoms are FIFTY DOLLARS for the same amount. And from their site you can only purchase once every 30 days so plan accordingly. I guess since they're supposedly more durable you wouldn't have to use more than one like you might have to with regular condoms but still, that's a lot. Maybe with insurance they're covered but it's still kind of weird to go to the doctor just to get a prescription for them.

They are easy and great to use. This video is spot on. The manufacturer has done a poor job at marketing the product in the US which has lead to dismal rates of knowledge and use. However, there are quite a few men and women who use them and enjoy them. FCs which are not the same as dental dams are great for people who are allergic to latex, men who have ED issues and receptive partners across the spectrum.
The efficacy difference between male and female condoms is very low compared to other methods and should not be a deterrent. With current STI rates what they are in the US- the need for easy to obtain, easy to use, versatile products is high.

"Imagine if guys had to go to the doctor to get a condom" as if this thought experiment is suppose to provoke this crazy change in my perception..

Because the social landscape is such that males are in competition for dominance (social, physical or otherwise) with other males, its not AS crippling as it may be for women.

The ol' story of a teenager being red faced from awkwardness when buying a condom at CVS is all that it comes too. its not that crazy.

On the other side - if this was the case , men who don't really like using condoms but should ( single dudes tbh ) will now will be less inclined to even "bother" to get it, causing maybe more STI etc.
