Good idea, but I'd say 4000 $ is still far from ultra-low-cost for people in poor countries.

All Education should be for Free.  $15 per lesson Max.

Hello World! I am a proud UoPeople student from Pakistan. I am very moved and inspired by the noble mission and objectives of founding this university which is open for everyone regardless of racial ethnic and similar criteria that occasionally seems a disgrace to humanity. Here there are no privileged ones. I am in my 5th term. By and large professors are very dedicated and the academic resources are great at cementing concepts and for comprehension of newly taught topics. The most amazing part is the entire community of UoPeople as it makes the learning. experience interesting due to people from varied backgrounds age and culture. I hope more accreditation agencies recognise UoPeople aaprtt from DAEC. I feel empowered and new horizons are opening up for me especially due to general education courses.

This may not be the answer for everyone - but it truly does fill a gap in the market and will provide so many more people the opportunity to obtain earn a degree.  This is a brilliant program!

Sa******:

Having classes in person, with a physical teacher you can see and respond to, will always be the best option. But that isn't possible for most people, and I applaud his vision of making higher education accessible to the masses.

Su*****:
They should change that name.
Who agree with me?

Ju********:
I'm enlisting right now for bussiness administration wish me luck

Pu****:

I tried attending UOP a couple of years ago, but I withdrew because I kept getting low grades on my assignments from my peers, however when I showed my work to professionals I know, they all thought my work should have gotten much higher grades. I feel like there are a lot of people reviewing assignments whose first language isn’t English, so they can’t properly review your work the way a native speaker might. It made the process extremely frustrating. I was extremely passionate about getting my education and worked very hard on my assignments, and for them to get such low grades from my peers was disappointing and really killed my morale.

lo***********:
Too expensive to me, better get the normal collage and don't pay for anything.

Mi********************:

This college needs regional accreditation.

Gy*********:
It's an excellent social, educational experiment. Give people a second chance and request more social responsibilities from these students may be more and more interesting model for the next  decades.

Ka**********:

It's great and noble initiative. It will help to spread knowledge all over the world. Thank you for such bold arrangement for online education.

Fo***********:
we need more ppl like this man (bow to him)

This is what making the world a better place is.

This is amazing.

Er**********:

Universities aren't about real education, they're about qualifications and standardised testing.

da*******:

So apparently the USA is a developing country and not a developed one.

Fa********:
I like this model and fully support it. This sounds like progress to me. Come on universities from all over the world, let's make this happen!!!!

Vd************:

Hey fellow Americans! Question....  How many people do you know that has a job were they take raw materials, create a product out of those materials, and then sells that product to other countries?
99% of the people I know are in the service sector...

Ai*************:

It is the right step in the right direction. Commercialization of education should be checked. Great job UoP...

Cost? College degree? I'm so glad I live in Finland, our universities are free.

Sa*********:
Yes everything you are talking about, I was and still am a part of this Global Village, opening the gates for higher education. I started to study with professors and we didn,t need books, we were connected with great people from all over the world. My experiences are with an other online university and I am looking forwards to this University to open this model and open through gates, we are building right now, offering a Syntony Model and framework. Becoming a portal for others to learn and to get education from a new innovational way.

Cu*********:

This is such a good idea. It transcends governments, politics, religions and cultures. It lets people learn and earn a degree regardless of socioeconomic status. It actually empowers people to build a career and a future for themselves. I think we need to expand this idea and the UoPeople. I heard enrollment is rising and they are developing an MBA program. Many US colleges talk about “going global” with their overseas study/travel package, but who can afford that. The UoPeople has been global since day one. Students don't just ride the bus past international landmarks, they interact with real people from around the world who are working to build a better future.

ma***************:

At least it would be a huge step forward towards tapping into humanity's potential than what most of us have experienced upto 2014. All skill training and education should be public and free. If you love useful knowledge, you will set it free. =P

Pa**********:
The essence of getting a degree is to get a job,now my question is this, will i get a job in countries like USA or EU with this degree? food for thought

ro***********:
That's AMAZING!!!!! Love this. Finally someone solving some worth while global problem.

Wi******:

interestingly thats much more than what i have to pay in germany for my howl education. i even dont need to pay for books or similar educationmaterials. thats possible cause of a social strukture that where created to help those who cant affort or are too young to affort education. in return we pay the social community taxes when we can affort it. so you dont need struktures like this. the target has to be, building stable social struktures within the community to generate the best, most secure educationstruktures.

RO**********:
Great Idea!
Someone commented that Internet costs money so the solution could be free Wi-fi or if this is not possible then Internet costs are atleast less expensive than the actual real world degree.

od**********:

Thank you president Shai Reshef for making my dreams come true at UoPeople.

Aq********:

Questions for any UOP students or staff, is the bachelor degree from UOP internationally recognized? I am currently in New Zealand and are quite fascinated by this idea of affordable education in UOP.

Ri*****:

He looks like that Apple designer.

Co**********:
My heart skipped a beat when he said fully accredited :)

Hy***************:
Any uofpeople graduates here that can testify success of hire after the degree?? And was it hard to get the job??

No*******************:

I'm so proud to be a UoPeople student

Meanwhile my brother's community college won't even let students buy used books anymore.

Ze**********:

Hello everyone, I am currently a student at the University of the People. I am about to start my 3rd semester and everything at the University of the People has been amazing since day one. I have taken 3 courses so far: one of them about emotional intelligence was the best course I have taken in my entire life. I joined the University of the People the day I heard President Reshef's talk. I like the way he explains things, I like his innovative approach to education, I like his vision and his mission. I like it for its clarity and for its simplicity. I believe that education is the key to change the world, so if you have good English and you have some hours to spare per week, please read more about the University of the People, apply, and make your dreams come true. Take care and best of luck with everything you do.

sa***********:
This is a wonderful goal. I have taken online classes set up like this before with Coursera and others. The problem is in having other students grade your work and limited access to professors who aren't really paid. The students who aren't proficient enough in English cannot be trusted to grade others work. And some times it takes too much time to get an admins attention when you are graded unjustly. The tests are repeated questions from quizzes and it can be completed as many times as needed till you get 100%. Accredited or not, I honestly don't think this is such a good education. True, there is no tuition, but you need about $4K to pay for the exams unless you can get a scholarship. Maybe if you live in these places then it is your only real option, but please look at other online schools that cost under $10K: like WGU, Herzing, and Peirce College.

Ke***************:
Really really good! It's the best way for me to persuade my dream. University of People is still my future dream to earn my degree. I'm preparing myself especially my English. Once I'm ready I'll go for it.
I used to fill up the application form, but I was asked to pay the registration fee $60, I do not have any English proficiency to proof my English. The only way to pay the registration fee first then take English class (provide by UoP) If I'm not wrong. Taking the English course I have to pay another $50 even I don't pass the exam. For this reason makes me worry to go for it or wait. But I decided to wait preparing myself first when I'm ready I'll jump into it. I believe UoP will still keep my account validation until I get back.
