Ja********:
7:44 So the key is to identify those times when more thot is required..

Ma************:
3:53 "You May not have noticed, but your brows probably furrowed and your mouth started to frown."
My face when he said that:

ಠ_ಠ

mi*********:

4:09 "Actually that was a trick question, he was born in 1879" AHHH, I see what you did there

Tr******:

3:46 I just started laughing

Go****:
4:37 "ESNT, BRX, MVNR, TWTR" <- no vowels, sounds like Czech to me, very familiar!

St*****:
4:08 Who else thought that they couldn't chose one, because they didn't know the answer?

Co*********:

4:39 You can pronounce the lowest right one as 'twitter' lol

Te******:
That fact cognitive is spelt wrong 6:18 is causing me cognitive strain.

Ky****:

He repeated the phrase "The more a phrase is repeated, the more we find it true" a lot.

Is it true :(

Ba*****:
“Images with higher contrast are perceived by the brain with more cognitive ease …” This is a causal fallacy. Images with higher contrast generally place greater emphasis on the subject, which serves to simplify the visual stimulus, and thus creates cognitive ease. However, images with high contrast could also create cognitive unease through over-stimulation, and images with low contrast could equally create cognitive ease by emphasising the subject through other methods (composition, colour, subject matter, vignette, etc.). The images used to illustrate this point are also deceptive. Humans are instinctively attracted to light and to warm colours, so the image of a warmly illuminated Golden Gate Bridge is particularly attractive for reasons in addition to its high contrast. The before-and-after Instagram filter images do not even show an increase in contrast; in fact, they show a boost in shadow luminosity, which actually results in a decrease in contrast, the opposite of what Derek claimed they show.
For a channel grounded in the scientific method, that claims to be educative, and in a video that tries to deal with the issue of cognitive bias, I am disappointed that it would present fallacious arguments and deceptive evidence.

Ma********:
As Sherlock Holmes said: "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact."

UM**:

Did I just find an excuse for my bad handwriting?

No***:

Dam i so thirsty after watching this i think i need some refreshing brown carbonated sugar water.

ed*********:
4:53 I said "FOOD" so confidently lol

Ji********:
It's frustrating when we want to change minds (for the better) but cognitive ease prevents people from changing. What they have been familiar with since always, seems to them like the best answer no matter what... and sometimes they are just wrong! I think that's why so many changes in society (that one would consider urgent) actually took a long time before they were made. And many other changes are still overdue.

Ca******************:

As usual a great video but all I got from this is that dumb people are happier than smart people

To**:

Maybe there is no cognitive ease mechanism and Derek just make us believe it really exists by repeating this term over and over...

Sn**********:

"The more something is repeated the more it starts to feel true"

Notice how he mentioned this several times throughout the video

Ga****:

I just love it when Dirk from Veristablium puts out a new video.

Zu*****:

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."

- Adolf Hitler

Ri************:

"The more something is repeated, the more it seems true." The government knows this. just think about Bush and the word "Terror" or "Terrorist" during the entrance to war in Iraq.

Da*********:

I think it might apply also to your channel’s name, after looking at many videos I think I assume that Veritasium exists in the periodic table

Ev********:

At first I didn't agree with this video. But after watching it a few more times, it really starts to make sense

Wait a minute...

To************:

After catching 100 zubats, I still don't think they are good...

Hi*:
The whole video I was trying to multiply 14*37 in my head

Pe******:
That explains why North Koreans love their leader, he's on TV 24/7 with no other choice of things to watch.

Ch*********:

I’m starting to believe Veritasium may very well be my favorite channel. Now I wonder if it’s simply because I keep watching your videos.

Ph***********:

Make the lie big,
Make it simple,
Keep saying it,
and eventually they will believe it.

Ja*******:

my average body temerature is 41 degrees celsius.

remember that.

Me******:
A very concise explanation of both religion and politics, that never once mentions either word.

Le****:
Now repeat after me: "Kardirga Covfefe!"

lu*******:

I'm on youtube because of the lures of cognitive ease. Not writing my bachelor's thesis.

Co***********:

... and this is why I detest advertising, and try my hardest to avoid it or be extremely sceptical of the messages they try to push.

er*******:

i'm don't tal english as first language and to me is hard to understand english, so just to understand what is said i was already thinking hard, all cognitive ease tests failed on me. because was thinking hard to simply read the normal text.

ep************:

When I got slightly ear rapped by the bad contrast video I immediately started smiling and I felt joy, thank you hundreds of meme compilations.
