This time, I will review the popular YouTube videos.
These days, even if it's good to watch on YouTube, sometimes people skip it or don't watch it if it's too long.

When you watch Youtube, do you scroll and read the comments first?

To save your busy time, why don't you check out the fun contents, summary, and empathy comments of popular YouTube videos first and watch YouTube?

Summary Comments : [Veritasium] 휴대전화는 뇌종양을 유발할까?

Mi************:
I've tried telling people precisely this, before, but they seem to think because they have a friend who used a phone and got brain cancer (never mind the friend that never used a phone and still got brain cancer), that their one little data point is conclusive proof.  Further, microwave ovens cook food by oscillating water molecules with a 2.5 GHz wave.  The closest a phone gets to that is the Wifi/Bluetooth band, at 2.4 GHz.  Causing molecules to oscillate isn't one of those "close enough is good enough" situations, it requires precision.  Cellular towers operate usually between 750 MHz and 2.1 GHz, varying by country, region, and technology, but still, nowhere near the resonant frequency of water.

Of course, try to point that out to anyone, and they just dig their heels in even more.

Amazing video would have been more amazing if at the end someone actually called before you said hello :D

My*******:

Cellphone usage triples your chance of being killed while jay walking.

Na********:
Now days people say everything causes cancer. I don't think it's possible to escape all risk factors. I guess just hope you're not one of the poor souls who develope it.

ma******:

There is also the concern of pragmatism. Is it justifiable to slightly decrease the chance of you having a brain tumor if you give up communication through a cellphone? Would giving up on emergency services via cellphone not cause more harm than good by preventing said tumors? Statistics alone should make you confident of the safety of using a cellphone. Add the communication cut that could potentially save your life or the life of another when threatened with dangers far more common than brain tumors to the pot and it gets even clearer that not having a cellphone could be to the determent of your life expectancy

Do more physics misconception videos!!!! They're funny and teach people something new at the same time!

What about sleeping with your phone under your pillow? Or under your chest or any part of your body? Does getting notifications during the night emit radiation?

it reminds of when there was a cell tower built, and people suddenly complained a ton about issues they thought were caused by it
company reply? "just wait until we turn it on!"

A little story from germany: "Deutsche Telekom" (a big provider) built a new cell tower. People complaint about headaches and feeling sick. The comment of Telekom: "Well, just imagine if we turn it on..."

my dad got brain cancer from spending up to 18 hours a day on the phone. he was a web designer and would call his clients from different states, he had that job for almost a decade. The first brain tumour he had gotten was right by his ear, where he held his phone. I was 7 when I was told he was going to die, the most horrible time of my life. I was 8 when my mum walked into my friend's house while we were hanging out and told my brother and me that he died that morning. He had at least 7 brain tumours all around his head when he passed, he couldn't talk or move or even open his eyes, I can't even remember the last time I saw him. I know everyone has their own opinions on whether or not radiation causes brain tumours, but I strongly believe that if my dad didn't have a phone, he would still be alive.

My parents always tell me im dying cuz of gadgets cuz im the touching the screen and the radiation is coming in my finger

Ch**********:
Just want you to know that as my high school science class starts this year with the scientific method, I am using this video to illustrate how poor statistics can lie and look like good science.

I do wish you would do a video on scientific methods where we have studied higher rates of __(fill in any disease)_ of those living near power lines. I believe NIH or similar did a blue ribbon study during the Clinton era that found the increased rate of (any random disease) was due to the fact that folks living next to power lines are in the cheaper homes and thus less likely to get quality health care (IE poverty causes the increased rate of disease). If I am not mistaken, this statistic also applies to those that have homes that are in flood plains. The rich don't live in a place that can seriously flood, so you see the effect again.

Perhaps a title of "the sky is falling and other silly statistics" to indicate how bad statistics propagate bad science.

Ju*********************:

Excellent video!!! But what about WiFi and Bluetooth technologies embeded in the cell phones? Do their radiowaves also are intrascendent related to brain cancer? What about their aggregated use, i.e. having two or the three of them on (WiFi, Bluetooth, at the same time as the call radiowaves, or any other combination within). And the answer to the previous question is applicable to WiFi or Bluetooth signals or other devices (WiFi computers, WiFi routers, Bluetooth transmitters/receivers, Bluetooth headsets, etc.)?

ma******:
1: The frequency of cellphones is not identical to that of microwave ovens. Its close, but not identical (most commonly  2.1Ghz), and sure, that is relatively close to the 2.45Ghz of a microwave oven, but if we talk about resonance its not that close.
2: The (legal) maximum output if a cell phone 2 watt, the normal output of a microwave is about 700W
3: There have been very hard questioning about the validly of Swedish test. There have been quite a lot of discrepancy of the study. Well... basically seemed it was faked of some reason. This kind of fake studies is becoming more common when the pear review system is breaking down. Its the sad state of science today

Th**********:
I always thought of this, that all these radio and microwaves going through the air could be affecting us in ways that we can't yet perceive. I don't think they cause cancer, but I think they do things to us we don't know yet.

Al**********:
THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STUPIDITY IN THE WORLD HAS GONE A LITTLE BIT DOWN..

Re***:
Great video once again!  :)

Be*****:
0:22 I think you just answered the question. If the radiation is too weak to mutate DNA, then there is no rational reason to link brain tumors to cellphone use. We can do studies to demonstrate that fact, but every scientist's hypothesis should be the same knowing the information at the beginning of the video.

us******:
Seriously...people are always worried about what causes cancer but their diet consists of crisps, ice cream, oreos etc. Most people eat shitty and don't do any sort of sport. And i say most because there are countries where every 2nd person is overweight and people worry about the little increase in cancer RISK. People who watched the Uranium documentary will know, that not even ionizing radiation is that harmful. What i mean by that is that you would expect way more impact from an event like Chernobyl.

Ym******:
Several months ago, a person I know got paid by local telecomunications company for a permission to put their relay tower upon the roof of his house. The very next day, quite a radical reaction happened - people organized protests with a tent in front of his house which lasted for several days. He had been recieving various death threats, pig's heads appeared in his backyard and so on. The most hilarious threat was from some guy who is living in the next house and has a really old father. He said to him; "If my father now dies, I will break you, kill you!"
Of course he's gonna die sooner or later regardless of the relay tower...
That happened obviously before this video, and I went on researching what kind of radiation is that - and, as is said in the video, it is a non-ionizng microwave radiation. Therefore, no matter how strong it is, it will only give off heat as energy - it won't destroy cells in such way to cause mutations. And even if it did, everyone living in cities would be dead because that kind of radiation is constantly all around us.
The moral of the story is that people like Veritasium are of great importance, we need to TEACH the people in order to prevent stupid affairs.
By the way, I'm from Croatia, and people like this described are a majority. So, if you're coming her for a nice seaside, remember - that's the only nice thing you'll encounter here.

sp*********:

While doing a decoration job a while ago i had to be almost touching the cell phone emitter, there were signs warning about the danger of being in proximity to the emitter but stupid us, we ignored. Stayed there for around 2 hours while doing my work and kid you not I felt all of my right side burning from the inside out to the point I had to run away from the antenna.
So don't come to me saying it doesn't affect you.
I was being cooked alive, my right side was red like I had been in the sun for days, even my skin peeled and I live in England, there's almost no sun.
Stay close to a antenna for a while and then let me know ok?
Next you will be saying cigarettes are good for you.
