This time, I will review the popular YouTube videos.
These days, even if it's good to watch on YouTube, sometimes people skip it or don't watch it if it's too long.

When you watch Youtube, do you scroll and read the comments first?

To save your busy time, why don't you check out the fun contents, summary, and empathy comments of popular YouTube videos first and watch YouTube?

0:03 I have pipe, do you want to hold it? lol

Aa*********:

1:16 "it took longer". Scientific explanation confirmed.

Zi****:

2:34 "And this is known as Electromagnetic Induction"

That's one way to have that talk with your kids.

Ki*****:

damn :'D that kid at 1:10 made me laugh so hard

Sooooo... Can we somehow make a one way elevator maybe? lol seems cheaper right?

Mi********************:
I still love watching this video!

Jo*******:
2:35 "Hey girl, how about we go to my place and induce electromagnetic induction? I want to light up your LED."

le*******:

dΦ/dt

Ma*****:
I love watching these and being like, "OMG I KNOW THE ANSWER!"
Then I want them to ask me, so I can show off, but I know they won't because I'm not British. :[

That is a sweet old lady.
She just seems like a pleasant human being.

et****:
it's because the tube is longer on the inside rather like the Dr Who's TARDIS is bigger on the inside

br**********:

Should work with aluminium roll of foil too!

You are a great educator!

Ja*********:
Lenz law

Ad**********:
Try what I did... put your copper pipe in the freezer for 15 minutes and see it work twice as good... anybody care to guess why?

B0****************:
yup.. I knew the answer as I just have gone through Electromagnetic induction

Ai*******:
Please tell me you at least found one person who knows how this works.

Br****:

"I have a pipe. Wanna hold it?" - The girls looks are priceless.

Ma**************:

little kid is thinking "I dont care about science i like my ice cream better"

Ra************:
1:33 I guess it's always Monday on youtube. (captions)

That starting! "I have a pipe. Do you want to hold it?"

What's really cool is that this is so reliable and so powerful that it is being used by roller coaster engineers to stop the trains nowadays.

If you look at most new coasters, they have 2 different styles of brakes. One of these is a simple bracket - no moving parts - that has two rectangular magnets held apart so there is a very strong magnetic field between them. A non-ferrous (meaning it doesn't attract a magnet) plate or fin is bolted to each coaster car to pass between those magnets. They are placed so they never touch.

When the train moves quickly into the brake run, it creates those electrical eddy currents, resisting the movement of the train, and thus slowing it down. But it can't really stop the train completely, just slow it down a lot because these eddy currents' strength is proportional to the speed. Too slow, and they can't create electricity or force. So they add one traditional friction brake to actually stop the train.

It gets a bit nuts when you think of the implications. One of the big coasters to use this technique is Millennium Force in Cedar Point. Once the train goes over the lift, there aren't any brakes until the end, and this is a 300 foot roller coaster. It goes fast. But the last brake run has a whole lot of these bracket and magnet combos to slow the train. The only thing that actually stops this train that a moment ago was going 60+ MPH? A single rubber wheel.

If you take it to the extreme, the cylindrical tower and ring style drop towers operate on the same principle. The magnets and fins swap places, so the magnets are on the ring that is dropped, and the fins are bolted to the tower. When the ring is dropped with all its passengers, there is nothing but a couple guide wheels attaching it to the tower, and it falls in very close to free fall. The only thing that slows this ring down from crashing into the ground from some 200 feet is a braking system that never even touches the ring (!!!). A few pistons at the bottom cushion the last bit of energy, and you are safe on the ground again. And don't worry about it failing. Not only are there a bunch of these to make it redundant, if the ride could last this long, it would be safe for human passengers for the next 700 years (yes, seven hundred) before you would have to replace the magnets once.

Ke*************:

This is my favorite video you have made, and I'm not sure why xD

Sc**********:
Ah! I was wondering if you'd done this! I find it slightly more impressive when you slide a flat, ring rare earth magnet down a non-ferrous sheet (aluminum works very well too and people often forget it's conductive too. Try it on a big ole piece of aluminum siding!). It's especially impressive as you get towards the vertical (as you do with the pipe), because your brain sees this magnet apparently 'sliding through honey or something viscous' when there' 'nothing there' to make it do that. Ah yes, this electronics guy loves me some self induction, eddy currents, reactance and counter-EMF! Thanks! Yeah, yeah, I know... I'm still just catching up with your vids... Great work BTW!
