The point she made was awesome: not to be the best but be the best version of yourself. Pretty inspirational.

Her story is soo mine!
I have been through this except it was infront of the whole school.
I was in 8th or 7th and i was doing the Gk quiz in the schools assembly where i mispronounced a question and said what instead of which and i was corrected infront on the whole school after 10 minutes. I wanted to cry so bad that day.

2 years later i fell in love with reading. I started writing. I became an aspiring poet, i started a blog and got more than 10k followers in months of starting and made so many big poets on social media my friend who absolutely loved that i wrote. I deleted that blog since it had fulfilled the purpose of building my self confidence and also because my friends started to recognize me there.

I am watching this video because every time I get rejected because I have poor communication skills. I just see my self in her.

So, I met this guy and while we were talking I mispronounced a word. I was a little embarrassed because I knew I was using the word in the right context but couldn't pronounce it, before I could say anything he stared started saying something. "You know a cool thing, it's weird how people look down upon other people who mispronounce words, the only way you can actually know when you use a word without pronouncing it when you've actually read it. You don't look down upon people who read "
That was legit one of the nicest thing I've heard someone say.

I don't know why it felt so connected to me. Feels like that's the same I had to go through my life.
When I was 12 , I had to give a speech on 'Importance of Discipline for Student' on stage in an annual program. When I went to stage, I couldn't speak more than two words "Respected teachers...". I was dumbstruck. I wasn't able to think of a single word apart from 'discipline'. Actually I added two more words, "thank you".
And rest the same story as she.
Watched YouTube videos, english news, movies, read english novels, magazines, newspaper, junior classes books, dictionary or anything I found out written in english, even advertisements and papers I got from street food vendors.
Last year in college I was co-host of our Annual Program in which I had to speak completely in english.
I did well. At least that's what I thought. But friends came to me and asked me how my english was so good!?
I was totally perplexed and amazed.
I couldn't know how english words came so natural to me as if I was putting no effort in it.
But as they say "It is only hard till you don't know it".
God Bless
Thank you for sharing.

Well, my journey of starting to speak English started with the series Marvel Agents of SHIELD as I couldn't find the Hindi dubbed version of it. So I invested my half-year of 9th grade and 10th as well to fully immersed myself into that show and since then, I never stopped.

Sa********:

In India, we are not taught how to experience something but to learn everything rather I shall say mug up everything, not to face the world but to face the exams to get degrees and marks. Even science subjects are theoretical based in India but not practical based. Ms. Esha if you're reading this then I would like to share my incident with you, in my 6th grade even I faced something similar to your experience, and I was humiliated before my class and all the teachers in my school for this goddamned English language.

Om***********:

I am the queen of mispronunciation ..I was pretty confident during my school years and actually I hv no idea where all my confidence has gone now...I found out that during the start of my college years and and I can't complete any sentences(in my mother tongue) without making atleast one mispronunciation...and I tried speaking slowly .but it didn't work out.. I am actually depressed and I am afraid to speak anymore even to present something infront of my parents...I don't know how to come out of it!!!

Gu***********:
i have been living in Canada since 6 Years and when i cam here i was barely bale to speak English, But now my accent is improved and i speak very clearly, However some of my friend have a Hard time pronouncing some English words and have hard time putting their thoughts into sentences. But i never mock them.. All is say is As long a you can understand what the other person saying, your language skill is working, never be shame of saying and pronouncing a word wrong. if you dont say it you wont learn.

OW***:

In school, I got bullied by many teachers in every school I have gone to bcoz I used to ask questions and they laugh, secondly - I knew the answers and I was correct but still teacher was not giving me a chance nor freedom to listen to my answer, they used to compare me with the class leader and say she/he is better and I am worst, and also I remember one terrible incident - one teacher corrected the Q&A test paper of class leader first without going through her paper and gave full marks bcoz she believed that girl is talented and always correct ( but her answers were wrong in Q & A papers) but after that, she corrected all rest class students papers by comparing her answers with rest of the class students - which is wrong and class leader answers were wrong, and that teacher gave me wrong score. I was the first one to notice and asked her back but she started arguing with me and bullied me after a few of my friends came to support me, then she started drama and gave the marks. anyways mine is also broken English :D
